History

Fundición Francisco Vanrell, family business founded in 1946 by Francisco Vanrell Pascual y Mª Ángeles Olives Riudavets.Currently, the company is run by Francisco Vanrell Olives, with the help of his son Francisco Vanrell García.
Our foundry is located on the Mediterranean island of Menorca (Spain) declared by the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, on the 8th October 1993.

In the beginning, the company used the green sand method to make pieces using the traditional method and used coking coal for melting. But over time and with the arrival of new technologies, the company has developed, incorporating new production methods, such as gravity die casting over permanent moulds (better known as chilled mould) or pressure die casting, which is used for most of our production.

In 1960, Fundición Francisco Vanrell became the first company in Menorca to buy a cold chamber die-casting machine to cast at a pressure CF 10 tonnes with injection by pedal and manual opening and closing, used to make brass and aluminium pieces such as lunch and chicken forks, women's shoe heels, pieces for Sumco calculators, etc.

In 1969, we were also the first in using a pressurized hot chamber with a semi-automatic machine of 20 tonnes to produce Zamak pieces such as paper knifes, seven day bracelets, bangles, sword hilts, shaving sets, etc. In 1969, we were also the first in using a pressurized hot chamber with a semi-automatic machine of 20 tonnes to produce Zamak pieces such as paper knifes, seven day bracelets, bangles, sword hilts, shaving sets, etc.

In 1994, due to an important increase in production, we moved to the factory premises that we had built in the Mahón Industrial Estate (POIMA), with a usable area of 800 m2, to be able to supply and improve our productivity and offer our clients better service and quality. Today our production is carried out at this site, mixing thus two elements: more than 60 years of experience in the sector and the most developed technology for pressure die casting.

In 2007, the company decided to include the finishing section to the manufacturing process, in order to offer our clients the whole productive process and be able to deliver them a finished product. Thanks to this new section, we are creating our own line of gift, promotional and souvenir articles, extending thus our product range.
